Today, November 3, 2009, voters in the great state of Maine will go to the polls to vote on Question 1, a ballot measure based on California Proposition H8 that would render null and void the legality of same-sex marriage in Maine despite the fact that their “activist” legislature and “activist” Governor passed and signed a law to establish equal marriage rights for all citizens.
Of course among the most prominent sponsors of Question 1 are major Jeebus Industry organizations such as the Holy Roman Catholic Church – which has reduced child rape up to 5% this year, and other self righteous groups who actually believe they have an invisible super pal who lives in a secret compartment concealed behind the sky and cries every time two guys kiss.
There also are some people who do believe in an Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy yet still think each person should have equal justice under the law, but these are ordinary people who work at honest jobs, not priests who wear dresses, complain about other people’s morality, then leer at 12 year old altar boys.
Most religious leaders are still desperately interested in protecting the Sanctity of Bigotry because it gives them an imagined handle on moral superiority and it sure brings in the cash from homophobic parishioners.
And it barely needs to be said that the Republican Party, a/k/a Party of Jesus, would be perfectly happy if they could ride a wave of fear mongering, homophobia, and spiteful innuendo to election victory. It has worked for them in the past.
Will this be the first time in the United States that the Jeebus Industry loses at the polls with one of their piously spiteful ballot measures? As a militant atheist fag I sure hope it will be.
Good luck to the wonderful people of Maine!

The whatchamahoozie central steering committee, or whatever it is called, of the Lutheran Church in the United States has like, totally destroyed the Sanctity of Bigotry by deciding to let known, practicing homosexuals act as church-sanctioned clergy persons. Won’t anybody think of the poor little bigots? How can they be holier than fags if their preacher is a fag?!?!?!? I mean WTF?
If Lutherans are not going to hate fags can they still claim to be Christians?
The worst part of it is that they had their convention in Minneapolis, the home state of America’s craziest bigoted US Congresswoman, Michelle “Death Panels” Bachmann. We wonder what she thinks of this shameful suggestion that fags should be treated as if they were actual people.
The next thing you know these gol darn Lutherans will be saying poor people should have medical coverage!

New York Governor David Paterson is unveiling a proposed new law that would grant equal marriage rights to all residents of New York State regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. After all, Equal equals Equal.
The Catholic Church, also known as the Altar Boy Rape Corporation, is already banging their drums and posing as morally superior child molesters. And of course they pretend that their Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy does not approve of homoluv. As if any sane person in touch with objective reality would give a shit what these power hungry ultra-greedy authoritarian cretins from the 13th century have to say.
Newly installed New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan started his gig by complaining about people ridiculing the Catholic Church.
Perhaps if they stopped using ridiculous ancient fairy tales to justify medieval sexist, misogynistic and homophobic authoritarian world views people would not feel the need to strike back with well deserved ridicule and biting sarcasm.
It will be very interesting to see the way in which Governor Paterson’s renewed efforts to promote equal justice under the law proceed. It is clear that the Governor is seeking to promote justice, so we can be certain that the Party of Jesus will be strongly opposed.

A majority of US citizens, including an increasing number of Republicans and conservatives, have expressed their desire to keep religion out of politics. If ever a survey brought music to our ears, this is the musical one.
Perhaps it is the 8 year reign of our compulsive liar war criminal Glorious Christian Leader that has opened the eyes of the American people. Perhaps they are tired of hypocritical Fundamentalists spreading hatred and division as if it were holiness and justice.
Maybe the good citizens of this nation remember how gung ho all of the Christian leaders were for our war of imperialist aggression based on a pack of lies about Iraq.
Certainly whenever a government is considering doing something evil, like endorsing slavery, promoting bigotry, or legislating homophobia; religion is right there cheering on the hatred.
In a 63-page report out today the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life found that 50 percent of conservatives now believe that churches and other houses of worship should stay out of politics. Four years ago, only 30 percent agreed. Across the entire political spectrum, 52 percent of voters said churches should keep out of politics. Forty-five percent said they should express their views.
Whatever the hard earned lessons that are turning back the tide of Jeebus-brand theocracy in America, we cheer this happy trend on. Congratulations to our fellow Americans, let’s hear it for separation of church and state. The people in Iran should be so lucky.

Considered by many as the most brilliant scientist of the 20th century, Albert Einstein was notorious for his ability to see what is essential and disregard the meaningless.
Thus it comes to as no surprise to rational people that he held all religions in very low esteem.
A letter written by Einstein will be auctioned off this week, it is a letter which reveals the contempt Einstein felt toward religious delusions.
“The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this.”
Religion has always been of the stupid, by the stupid, and for the stupid. Survey after survey has demonstrated a clear correlation between advanced education and freedom from religious delusions.
It makes sense that people who are not stupid would do better in the educational system, and they would therefore be represented in greater numbers among persons with advanced degrees. Stupid people, having less ability to differentiate between superstition and fact, are less likely to recognize and rid themselves of false ideas learned by naive children.
So be careful about the lies you tell to your children involving invisible fairies that live in the sky. It is possible that they may never learn that there is no Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny is really a person, and there are no invisible fairies up above the clouds.
And for the Fundamentalists who try to claim that the smartest man they ever heard of was suffering from religious delusions like theirs, this letter represents epic failure.
Of course they could always pray that their Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy will use his magical ink re-arrangement powers to rewrite Einstein’s letter so that it conforms to their favorite fantasies.

You can always tell when a religious leader is saying something stupid, just watch their lips to see if they are moving.
The UK Regional Profit Manager for the Holy Roman Altar Boy Church, Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor (shown in his best Sunday go to Meeting Dress) has suggested that “modern atheism” is a product of a distorted kind of Christianity.” Apparently the Cardinal believes that without Christianity there could be no atheism.
Maybe he means the distorted kind of Christianity in which people that publicly criticize the world’s wealthiest pedophile ring are not burnt at the stake. The Cardinal may be longing for the good old days, hundreds of years ago, when the religious options included Catholicism or death.
Atheism, beyond any shadow of a doubt, is the natural state of all living things.
The word atheism combines the prefix ‘a’, meaning without, with the word theism, meaning a delusional belief in one or more Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy(ies). If you made a nearly infinitely large chart, and you listed all of the gods that have ever been imagined by a human being on the left side, and all of the gods that a newborn baby believes in on the right side, the chart would be empty on the right side. A newborn baby is without any delusional belief in invisible fairies, therefore all babies are born as atheists.
Let us now compare what Cardinal O’Connor calls “modern atheism” with, say, the atheism of a newborn human baby born 27,521 years ago.
The modern atheist does not believe in any Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy. The newborn baby 27,521 years ago also did not believe in any Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy. So far there does not seem to be any difference.
It must be very lonely running the regional profit center for the Church in modern day Britain. The British people are not constantly awash in idiotic Fundamentalist drivel like some other nations. The average man in the street in the UK today has no interest in anything to do with Christianity. Brits really are good at recognizing bullshit when it is being shoveled.
There is one consistent note to every attempt by Christians to denigrate atheism, they must always begin by misrepresenting the definition of the term. Cardinal O’Connor, commenting on Richard Dawkins:
“The interesting question about atheism is what is the theism being denied? Have you ever met anyone who believes what Richard Dawkins does not believe in? The God that is being rejected by such people is a God I don’t believe in either.”
Here is the interesting answer, the theism that atheists do not believe includes all delusions about all imaginary deities no matter who is being delusional or what they have to say about their delusion. For each and every Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy, all atheists everywhere throughout all time do not believe in that delusion. Modern atheists and ancient atheists do not believe in exactly the same number of Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddies – all of them.
So Cardinal O’Connor, whatever color you may think your invisible super pal’s beard may be, we do not believe that it exists.
A person that does not believe in any God at all, even the ones that have not been imagined yet, is an atheist.
A person that only disbelieves in a subset of invisible super pals, but who does believe in one or more Special Friend(s) is not an atheist.
No belief in any God = atheism. Belief in more than zero God(s) = theism. We hope this is clear enough that even a professional Catholic can understand it.

For many, many years people who are afflicted with religious delusions have prayed to an imaginary super-pal for an end to the Fidel Castro regime in Cuba.
Now Castro has announced his retirement. The question we have is, if the most powerful Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy in all of make believe land wanted Castro to be out of office, why did it take so long?
During the infamous Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba there were lots and lots of Catholics praying for a successful killing, in His mercy of course. Deadly death did they pray for, but Castro survived that dismal failure.
Surely the big butch all powerful super duper big in the sky guy can handle one overweight elderly dictator in very poor health? But despite all of the pious prayers of the faithful communist haters, the worst harm that has befallen Castro is colon surgery? Hell, I’ve had colon surgery, and hardly anybody prays for my death, as far as I know. Not that I would mind, of course, because if there is one thing that the human race is very quickly learning and plugging in to their mindset it is that Nothing Fails Like Prayer.

Our Glorious Christian Leader has bolstered his image as a War President by using his veto power to defeat a bill passed by Congress that would have extended a medical care program (SCHIP) for children.
It is better to drop bombs on foreign children than provide medical care for our own children, or so it would seem.
No doubt Our Glorious Christian Leader was inspired by a famous quote from his Imaginary Bearded Sky Daddy, or Imaginary Son of Imaginary Sky Daddy to be more precise, “Suffer the little cluster bombs to come unto me, for theirs is the Kingdom of Republican war profits”. I think that is how it goes. Compassionate conservative my ass.
Besides, these damn poor kids are too young to be sent overseas time and time again, and then treated like dirt when they come home wounded. By the time they are old enough to be used as cannon fodder, Our Glorious Christian Leader will be back home in Crawford counting his war profit dollars.
Our Glorious Christian Leader is willing to spend ten billion dollars a month to protect exclusive oil rights for the billionaire that is building his Presidential Library, but medical care for our own children is just too big of a burden, since it does not help his war profiteering Fundamentalist Christian cronies. How could anything be more disgusting than Our Glorious Christian Leader?

A coalition of human beings is presenting a united front against the right wing hatemongering liar and uber idiot Rush Limblob in reaction to his recent shameless attack on US veterans exercising the freedom of speech they have defended.
Limblob attacked a caller to his moronic talk radio program when the gentleman suggested many Iraq war veterans were opposed to the continuing futile imperialist adventure.
The closest Limblob has ever been to a war was the war on drugs, and he was on the wrong side then just like he is now.
But now real soldiers who have really been to Iraq and really seen the horrors brought on by the Bush/Vader war machine are speaking out, so Limblob calls them fake soldiers.
Shup up, Limblob, and listen to the human beings for a change.

The Holy Roman Child Rape Church Bishop of Mozambique has claimed that condoms shipped to Africa from European nations have been intentionally laced with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in a racist plot to kill Africans.
Archbishop Francisco Chimoio, a direct report employee of Nazi Ratzi, repeated this death-promoting lie directly to a Reuters reporter. If this intentional deceit by a mother fucking robber baron is not a crime against humanity, I’d like to know how it is not.
By using condoms, persons having sex greatly reduce the risk of transmitting HIV, the virus that even the Catholic Church admits causes AIDS. When a mother fucking son of a bitch like this lying toe rag tells this kind of a carefully calculated malicious lie people that are misguided enough to listen to this scumbag increase the risk that they and the people they love will die.
We have a message for Archbishop Francisco Chimoio, Up against the wall, motherfucker.
