Despite the fact that there are active lawsuits against CACI International and Titan for their complicity in illegal and immoral prisoner torture at Abu Ghraib, the US Defense Department has awarded lucrative new contracts to both firms.
CACI International seems to be the main player in the Iraq prisoner torture industry, their shareholders are collecting profits based on the fine work of their commercial prisoner interrogation workers. You can see a well written expose of the CACI International role at Abu Ghraib here.
The Pentagon has finally responded to charges that CACI International employees used dogs to terrorize prisoners by awarding a $16 million dollar extension of their torture contract. Titan has been reprimanded with a $164 million dollar contract.
One of the Titan employees at Abu Ghraib, Adel Nakhla, has been charged with the rape of an Iraqi boy, no doubt to “soften him up”. No legal action has ever been taken in this matter, nor does it seem likely that it ever will, now that specialist Charles Graner has taken the fall.
Are the US television networks pursuing these issues? Or are they essentially complicit in a scheme to paint the picture of a few rogue reservists gone wild at Abu Ghraib?
On their website, Titan refers to another defense product line by invoking the name of God, ” Titan is continuing to develop, test, and support AWACS, as well as JSTARS. JSTARS’ sophisticated technology can see the entire battlefield from the air, providing commanders with a “God’s-eye” view.”" see this page. Is Titan’s involvement in torturing prisoners and raping children another Bush Administration faith-based initiative?
Some well respected news sources outside of the United States are not subject to intimidation from the Bush Administration over their handling of the latest torture industry headlines. For an excellent article see the Guardian Unlimited.
Does the Bush Administration have an active policy of letting no evil deed go unrewarded? Alberto Gonzales, mister torture policy himself, is set to start overseeing the administration of federal laws as Attorney General. He’s gotten his reward.
Co-Conspirator Rice is about to become Secretary of State, is this her reward for lying about WMD?
It’s no wonder that the rest of the world hates the Bush Administration, not all foreign TV networks and newspaper chains are controlled by US corporations. Overseas they get a much different view of world news.
